Check the USGenWeb Archives page of Orleans Parish for indexes to marriages, births and deaths of the Cumpsten family in New Orleans. Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/la/orleans.htm and enter the surname in the search box and several entries will be listed. The New Orleans vital records generally list parents so I suggest you order one or more of these records from the Louisiana State Archives. I believe they charge $5 per copy.
