Henderson Swilley, Rapides Pr., LA 1850, 1860 & 1870

I am searching for more information on Henderson Swilley, born about 1809 in North Carolina, found in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 censuses of Rapides Parish.

With him are listed 3 children - Martha (age 12 in 1850, born LA); Mary (age 18 in 1860, born LA; age 16 in 1870, born LA - ?same person, error in age?) and William (age 7 in 1850 & 17 in 1860).

Henderson's wife in 1850 was Sarah; in 1860, Mary. He did not have a wife listed in 1870.

If anyone has access to deed records, wills, cemetery records, marriage records - anything that would help me find out more about this family, I would be extremely grateful. Our local library (Marietta, Cobb Co., GA) has very little about this parish.

In the Roster of Confederate Soldiers (Boardfoot), there is listed only one man named Swilley from Louisiana..........W. G. Swilley, Co. B, 9th Inf; 1st Sgt. Could this have been William Swilley, son of Henderson? Did he survive the war?

If someone could help me, I would be more than happy to reciprocate by doing any research for you in Georgia!!

Janice Newton Thurmond, Marietta, GA
