There's help for researchers with SC surnames

I notice that many of you are researching the same surnames as those who are members of Old Newberry District Chapter in Newberry, S.C.

We invite you to join us in your journey to research Newberry County, S.C. surnames at Old Newberry District Chapter of S.C. Genealogy Society, Inc.

ONDC was organized November 20, 1991 and received its charter from the South Carolina Genealogical Society, Inc. (SCGS) on December 7, 1991. The chapter was organized to encourage the science of genealogy, to educate and promote interest in genealogy, the history of our ancestors and Newberry County. It was also formed to provide a forum for the exchange of genealogical and historical information.

The site contains information and resources for Newberry County, South Carolina. More information will be added to the site as time permits. Hopefully, you will find the information helpful to your quest for your ancestors. If you will leave your email at the end of the NEWSLETTER, you will be automatically notified when new information is posted there. Information about our meeting and programs is posted on the site as well as an Application for Membership and the publications available to assist in your research. I will be glad to publish a query for you in our quarterly magazine. Our ONDC quarterly goes to many states and most likely would assist in your research, even to those who do not have computers.

We welcome your comments and appreciate any suggestions concerning these pages. Please feel free to e-mail Elizabeth S. Pitts, Secretary/Treasurer who is hosting this site, if you have any comments, suggestions or questions:e-mail Lib at, or feel free to telephone her at (864)833-2239. We would welcome you as a member and appreciate your support.

Best regards,
Elizabeth S. (Lib) Pitts
