As you may have notices, I have been searching for many months for the father of Bertha (BEppie) Lee (Leslie) Culin of the famous Roskruge-Wood-Marshall families of Arizona.
Recently a Pima County AZ resident sent me proof that the unknown Mr. Leslie was Harry Melville Leslie, or Melvillo Leslie, supposedly born in Louisville KY, supposedly to Lucy and Harry Leslie of Louisville KY.
Supposedly Harry Leslie died in Tucson AZ in Jun 1878.
But I have 14 reasons why I think that Harry Melville Leslie was an alias of the notorious gunfighter and convicted murderer, Nashville Franklin "Buckskin" Leslie, who shot at least one person dead at the famous gunfight at the OK Corral!!!!
In other words, Beppie's father may very well have been Frank Leslie, who pretended to be his own fictitious brother using the fictitious name Harry Melville Leslie.
Frank Leslie was born in VA in 1842 and he had no siblings.
So now I am looking for any birth record around 1842 for Harry Melville Leslie in any state.
If there is no birth record - no one has found such yet in any state - then that is fairly final and conclusive proof that Frank was Harry, along with the other circumstantial evidence.
I am also looking for any record of the supposed Harry's parents, Lucy and Harry Leslie, in any state around 1842, give or take 25 years. Mrs. Sallie Knox (Wood) Leslie Guthrie's affadafit stated that those were Harry's parents, and that Harry Melville Leslie was from KY. Well, no such persons lived in KY between 1800 and 1900, at least not listed in any of the many and extensive KY genealogical records in print and on the Internet.
Frank was from VA. Have not found any Harry M. Leslie born or living in VA either.
If my suspicion is true, if Frank was Harry, then that would explain many strange things about Beppie's previously unknown origins
