1830 Steamboat Disaster between New Orleans and Louisville, Kentucky

"ANOTHER STEAM BOAT DISASTER - We understand that the Steam Boat Caledonia, on her way from New Orleans to Louisville, burst one of her boilers near New Madrid on the 18th inst. and that eight or ten persons were killed or badly wounded. There were between four and five hundred passengers on board. Mr. Russell the engineer, (formerly of this county,) is among the killed."
