Richard E. Bates, b.1815 or 16 in Mississippi, mar. Catharine, b. 1824 MS, children Wm. W, b.1844 and Emily, b. 1848 in Louisiana (probably Bossier). Somehow related to Garnett G. Bates, b.1831 and Cicero Columbus Bates, b. 1829, both in MS. All three Bates lived in Bossier Co, Louisiana in 1850, Garnett and Cicero lived in Arkansas in 1860, Garnett returned to Louisiana (Bossier or Caddo) by 1870 with wife Mary C. Beaird, b.Louisiana 1844. Cicero died in Hempstead Co, AR in 1870. His wives were Susan Jane Roberson, b.1832 TN d.AR 1863, Mary E. Robinson, Nancy Catherine Moss. Did Richard E. return to MS? There is a Richard E. in Amite by 1860 with a wife named Catharine. Any information on these or other generations is appreciated.
