I also had relatives with terminal illnesses around that time.
My relatives were treated at what was called Charity Hospital. You can search the net for more info about the hospital.
The archives will only search for one three year period, for a charge. You can go to Baton Rouge and search, yourself, for a charge of only .50.
I had considered asking the hospital, which is under a different name now, to do a microfilm search. That would be quite a chore.
