Michael, Robert Draughan Norsworthy was one of my great grandfather's elder brothers. Siblings of R.D. Norsworthy were William F Norsworthy, who was a professor at Centenary College in Jackson, LA; John L. Norsworthy, Mary J. Norsworthy, Teresa Anna Norsworthy, and Francis (Frank) Marion Norsworthy, who was my great grandfather. Their father was Niles G(rinstead) Norsworthy who was born in North Carolina around 1797 and married Harriet Draughan around 1821 in Woodville, MS, then moved to St. Francisville, LA, then to Jackson, LA. Niles was accompanied by his younger brother, Nicholas Norsworthy, who settled somewhere around Pearl River, Mississippi. Descendents of Francis Marion Norsworthy still live in the family home built around 1840 in Jackson, LA. His direct descendents have also served honorably as Mayor and Sheriff of Jackson, LA in recent years and decades.

My information on Robert Draughan Norsworthy is rather limited. I do know he attended Centenary College, became a minister, served in Bayou Sara approx. 1844-1847, and officiated in marriages in Woodville, MS. Unfortunately, I do not know anything about his children, neither do I know anything about the children of any of his siblings, other than those of my own great grandfather, Frank M. Norsworthy but I would like to know more about them if you are able to share any information.

I assume by your interest that Robert Draughan Norsworthy may be one of your ancestors. Please feel free to contact me if we can share information on our family's history. I'm sorry, I have no information on any of the Swayze's.

Arthur E. Norsworthy, Baton Rouge, LA
