Hi Linda.

Could this be your Opal in 1930, with a daughter?
1930 United States Federal Census > Louisiana > Ouachita > West Monroe > District 25 > PAge 16A
Family 359
James Ingram, head, white, 40, married, reads, writes, he and parents b AL
Nellie Ingram,w ife, white, 16, married (age 16 at first marriage) reads, writes, b Missouri, father b TN, mother b IL
Opal Patterson, mother, white, 35, widowed, age 19 at first marriage, reads, writes, she and parents b Illinois

I checked the LA Death Index (which is not all-inclusive), and found only one Robert/Bob Patterson who died in Ouachita Parish:
Robert P. Patterson
Death Date: 22 Dec 1922 Age: 41 years
Parish: Ouachita
Volume: 32 Certificate: 13934

Good luck!
Karen
