Martin Vanburen Tully of Tate Co. Ms & La
Has anyone come across this Tully in their research? He was my GGrandfather and I'm trying to piece this family tree thing together.
Here's what I know so far which isn't much:
Born: June 07, 1879
Married: Bertha Lee Cooper (born 2-07-1889) of the Cooper/Scoggen clan of Sara, MS
Died: In Louisiana, near Monroe, (Bertha died Oct. 1978 in Monroe)
Children: Van Buren Tully (Nov 30,1911-Aug 1, 1996)
Notes: Had been farmers near Delhi, LA. Other children besides Van that used to reside in Monroe, LA but don't have the names other than my Great Aunt there was called "Skitter".
Here's what I think so far but haven't been able to confirm:
His parents may have been John Lafayette Tully & Hattie May McVay of Sara, Tate MS. 1880 Census records shows them having 2 sons, Martin & J.W. (John William I think). I'm pretty sure it's the same ones since I know my Granddad (Van Buren) and Martin were both born in Ms and the time frame seems to match pretty closely.
IGI record has Martin Vanburen Tully in Arkabutla, Ms which isn't very far from Sara but no date given.
I'm hoping someone out here has some information that can verify this or even extend my information further, as there are not any real family records to go by. I can also share the decendant line of Martin Vanburen Tully with anyone who may need it.
Thanks,
Van Michael Tully Jr.
