Hi Rosie and thanks so much for the reply! I did not know the marriages were civil and that the courthouse had burned. This is the most new information I've learned in several years searching for him.
I have only checked for Florentin in census that are available online. He is listed but not before the 1860 census. Florentin served in the Civil War and that is where my information is from. On his enlistment papers his place of birth is shown as Indian Bayou. His birth and death dates are also from his CW records. He died in Lake Charles and is buried in Corporation Cemetery. A CW memorial marker was placed just last year for him by United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Florentine Napoleon Stout

Does the St.Landry census differ from the state or federal census for this period?
