Have you looked for Florentin on the 1850 St. Landry Parish Census? If the census was taken before he married on 10 June 1850, he may be found living with his parents. If he was already married, he may be living near his parents. Families seemed to stay together.

I note in Southwest Louisiana Records (SWLR) both his marriages were civil marriages and parents' names were not listed.

I did not find a birth record for Florentin in SWLR, V. 2-C, (1826-1830) nor in V. 3, (1831-1840). Where did you find his birth date? Do you have his death date?

Fr. Hebert recorded sacramental events from the area's Catholic churches. He also recorded civil marriages and successtion/probate records from the area's court houses, regardless of race or creed.

Calcasieu Parish was created in 1840 from St. Landry Parish. The Lake Charles fire of 1910 destroyed the Calcasieu Parish Court House and also the Catholic Church's early records. These records are hard to find.

Merry Christmas
