A young orphaned girl named Elizabeth Morris was represented in Butts Co GA court records suing for her portion of Abner Bankston's estate. Her guardian was Jordan Morris who was also named as the husband of Angelina, another party suing for her portion of Abner Bankston's estate. All the parties suing are identified as the heirs of Olive Payne, deceased. Olive Bankston Payne was the daughter of Abner Payne by an early wife. Young Elizabeth Morris was born after the death of Olive so she cannot be a daughter of Olive. I assume she is a granddaughter of Olive. She is not a daughter of Angelina and Jordan Morris, because they had several children not named in the suit. She is not a child of Jordan Morris by a previous marriage to another sister of Angelina because she was born after Jordan and Angelina married.
In 1850, Elizabeth Morris is living with John H Payne, also a son of Olive Bankston Payne, and his family in Panola Co MS, not far from Jordan and Angelina Morris. She is 15 years old. These families settled in Claiborne Parish LA before 1860, but I can't find Elizabeth after 1850. Maybe she married in MS or maybe she moved to LA with the families.
Given the entire situation I conclude that Elizabeth Morris born 1935 in GA is a grand-daughter of Olive Bankston Payne. Her parents are most likely siblings of Angeline Payne and Jordan Morris, making her a biological niece of Angeline and her husband Jordan Morris and her brother John H Payne.
I REALLY want to find out more about Elizabeth- she could be the key to finding my Jordan Morris' family.
