Looking for ANY information on Mathias Beasley b.1779 and died after 1840 in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. The family story goes that he came to Cloutierville, Louisiana from New Orleans around 1809. He then moved to Lotus, Louisiana where he and his son, James Beasley, farmed. There is the possibility that he fought in the Battle of New Orleans in 1814 and may have been wounded. I have found no information regarding who his wife was and when/where she died. There is also a family story about his son, James, receiving a letter from Philadelphia regarding property that was being disposed of. His response was allegedly that he had enough to handle in Louisiana and couldn't bother with matters in Philadelphia.

This is all verbal history and I have not been able to confirm any of it. If any of you have some information that might tie in with this I would really appreciate hearing from you.
