Hi Susan.

I believe I found this family for you in the 1930 census:

1930 Louisiana, Richland Parish, Police Jury Ward 2, ED 7, Page 25A.
Dwelling 584/Family 637. Rents farm
Robert L Jones, head, white, 50, married, age 19 at first marriage, reads, writes, he and parents b Mississippii, farmer
Sarah E., wife, white, 25, married, age 20 at first marriage, reads, writes, she and parents b LA
Ruth M., daughter, white, 2, b LA

living next door is Clarence Jones, age 21, with wife Neoma.

You might want to order Robert's death certificate. It should tell you the names of his parents and his birth date, to the best knowledge of the informant. Here is a possibility for his death certificate:
Robert L Jones, white, age 56, d 14 Feb 1937 in Cameron Parish, LA. Volume: 11 Certificate: 4295
