Marriage or divorce record of Geore Newton Williams
Posted by: Boe Williams (ID *****8458) Date: July 06, 2003 at 17:35:29

George Newton Williams, born in 1869 in Florida is shown in the 1920 census of Shreaveport, Caddo County having apparently married the widow Rives with step children named Rives. He has a year old daughter named Marilyn. Is there a marriage record or divorce record there for him. No one in the family knows anything about Marilyn or Mrs. Rives.

He was first married in Hale County, Alabama bout 1890 to Mary Dominick, by whom he had several children. She died in 1910 and in 1912, he married Mrs. Bessie Box Jones in Houston County, Alabama. George and Bessie are my grandparents. They lived in Greensboro, Hale county Alabama where he was county school superintendant. They separated in 1915 when my father was 18 months old and he moved to Shreaveport. He died in Longview, Texas while living with his son Bruce from the first marriage in 1938. I really want to know about Marilyn Williams who would be my father's half sister. As stated before, no one in the family seems to know anything about this last marriage (if there was one) or the daughter. They seemed to be proprietors of a boarding house

I would be glad to pay someone to check on a marriage or divorce record in Caddo County or provide any information about Marilyn.

E. L. "Boe" Williams
