I have an obituary published in 1842 in THE DAILY PICAYUNE, in which it mentions the deceased as being buried with military honors by detachments from the "FIRST COMPANY OF NATIVE AMERICANS", AND "MARION RIFLES" OF the WASHINGTON BATTALION, the LOUISIANA GREYS", the MONTGOMERY GUARDS," and "CANNONIERS," of the LEGION.
Can anyone give me any history on any or all of the mentioned military units, or direct me to a source for such information, please, I would sure appreciate any help.
Thank you,
Sandra
