The Clifton Choctaw still has not gotten Indian status.I have a stop in their community every other week and they are a great community of people. The melungeons have a fascinating history. And I have been trying to find out if i have a connection there.......especially since i read that the shovel shaped front tooth is one of the traits. So far I have found no names that match with my family names....which don't mean a whole lot.The origin of the Melungeons are said to range from Turks, to Portugese, to who knows what. But still interesting heritage, no matter what.
