Thanks Clare,
This helps very much, after posting this I met a descendant of Leroy's line who sent me the Obituary, from it I am led to believe that Winfield is not the father our our Leroy:
OBITUARY OF
LEROY ALFORD
Died very suddently of heart trouble at his home on Thursday at 6 0'clock a.m.July 27, 1899. Mr. L. R. Alford, aged 73 years, six months and 17 days.
Mr. Alford was born in Louisiana January 10, 1826, moved with his parents to Bowie County in 1832 and settled on the Red River at the place known then as Spanish Bluff.After reaching manhood, his parents dying, he moved to Old Boston and in 1853 was married to Miss Martha White and moved about 3 miles southeast of New Boston where he lived until his death.He was a consistant member of the M. E. Church South for nearly 40 years, And his daily walk proved himself an earnest christian, meek and lowly in his determination to serve his God. To know him was to appreciate his worth.In the house he was loving husband, a kind father and a friend of true worth.He was hospitable to all alike.A citizen and a neighbor --one was always better for knowing.He leaves a wife and many relatives and friends to mourn his lost.
END.
The source Newspaper not known at this time, I suspect the Texarkana Gazzet...
===========================================================
The Winfield of the Austin area may be related, in some way, if it can be proven Winfield lived in LA and GA, but from what I have read about him, I don't believe so, at this time.
It is easy to believe our Leroy is related to Winfield, one census matches his head stone dates, and another matches the Leroy of Winfield's family... but those census takes, god bless them, did a great job, but made many mistakes, and of course they were only as good as their sources...
Really appreciate the information,
Thank You!
