HOLDERS in North Louisiana
Posted by: Kristy Nix Date: April 07, 1999 at 23:53:38
  of 18908

I am searching for Jesse Holder who was born in 1790 in Virginia. He
married a Garrison(?) who was a little older than him and had the
following children. All of the males are known to be born in Kentucky.

William Holder born 1805
Levi Holder born 1806
Elisha Garrison Holder born 1815
Jesse P. Holder born 1817
2 unknown girls born 1810-1815
1 unknown girls born 1815-1820

Jesse was reportedly a circuit riding Methodist Preacher. He moved to
Louisiana in 1827 with his family and started a church in the Holder
Community in Bienville Parish.

I am corresponding with several other cousins and together we have quite
a bit of information on the male children listed above. I would like to
compare our information with anyone else's information.

What I need to know is:
Does anyone know of Jesse being in KY other than his children listing it
as their birth place?
Is there any proof of the wife of Jesse being a Garrison?
How do you search Methodist records?
Does anyone know who the girls are? They might be on marriage records
somewhere. I know they lived in Bienville Parish in 1830. They must have
all married before 1840.

Thanks,
Kristy M. Nix
