Hmm. Is there anything in particular to make you think there is a connection:

Samuel S:

1880:

Household:

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
S.S. DIXON Self M Male W 45 LA Farmer LA LA
Margarina DIXON Wife M Female W 32 LA Keeping House LA LA
Alice DIXON Dau S Female W 10 LA At School LA LA
Nancy DIXON Dau S Female W 9 LA At School LA LA
Eva DIXON Dau S Female W 8 LA At School LA LA
Willard DIXON Son S Male W 6 LA At School LA LA
Bulah DIXON Dau S Female W 5 LA At School LA LA
Ella DIXON Dau S Female W 4 LA LA LA
Allen DIXON Son S Male W 2 LA LA LA
Jba JACKSON Other D Male B 75 VA Laborer VA VA
David JACKSON Other S Male B 9 LA LA LA
Julia JACKSON Other Female B 15 LA LA LA

Source Information:
Census Place 2nd Ward, Livingston, Louisiana
Family History Library Film 1254456
NA Film Number T9-0456
Page Number 138C

1870:

2nd Ward, Livingston:
95 95 Dickens, Sam 32 m w Farmer 800-480 LA
Margany 22 f w Keeping house LA

Absalom in 1850, EBR:

985
Absalom Dixon 31 M Farmer 500 La.
Elizabeth 28 F La.
Lucinda 5 F La.
Frances 3 F La.

And also a family containing a Samuel, aged 16:

870
Samuel Dixon 42 M Farmer 1000 Ga.
Ann 44 F N.C.
Louisa 19 F La.
Sarah 17 F La.
Samuel 16 M None La.
John 14 M La.
Mathew 12 M La.
Lucindy 7 F La.
Barnabus Crittenden 16 M None La.

In this case it seems quite possible that Absalom and Samuel Dixon b.GA are brothers, which would make Samuel Jr. his nephew, or possibly they are cousins. At the very least it is likely that they did know each other, possibly went to the same church, etc.

Hope this helps

Jenna
