Hi, Brenda,
I am hoping that you still have this email address. I will post this message on the Jackson Parish, LA GenForum also.
There was a Hodge-Hunt Lumber Company in Hodge, Jackson Parish, Louisiana, in the early 1900s. I am almost certain that the town's name came from the Mr. Hodge of the lumber company.
In 1910 this family lived in Jonesboro, which is perhaps 2 miles south of Hodge: L.W. Hodge (job - sawmill contractor), b. ca 1855 AR; Amanda, his wife, b. ca 1857 AR; Odis, his son, b. ca 1877 AR. Also living in the general vicinity of Jackson Parish, in Lincoln, Claiborne, Union, and Bienville parishes, were some other Hodge families, also b. in AR.
If you don't have access to census records online, let me know and I will get the information for you.
By the way, the 1890 census records were almost all destroyed in a fire where they were stored in Washington, D.C., before the pictures were made of the records.
I hope you get this information!
