ROSS, John Isaac or Izaac

I am searching for information on my husband's great grandfather. There is very little family information on him and need a little help to research this line. His name was John Isaac Ross. He married Josephine Humphreys on Dec 31, 1888 in Jefferson County, Mississippi. The first that I find them on the census is in the Jefferson County census for the yea 1900. They are listed there with seven children: John R., Edward S., Eva E., Thomas P., Rebecca M, Hewell W, and William B. The census says that John I. was born July 1861. According to my mother in law, the children's names are: Robert, Sam, Eva, Print, Mamie, Brown, and Hunter. According to cemetery records, he was buried in the Coax Baptist Church Cemetery in Baskin and his date of death is Sept 6, 1913. Josephine died Dec 25, 1943 and is also buried in the Coax Baptist Church cemetery. There is no death certificate on file for John Isaac. Mamie writes her father's name down as Izaac on her application for Social Security. If anyone has any clues to send me on my way researching this family, I would appreciate it. Otherwise I am at a brick wall.
Thank you, Joyce Lowery
