Dear Sandra,

Write, The Village of Pine Prairie Town Hall-Police Dept.,1006 Edwin Elliott Rd., Pine Prairie, LA or call 1-337-599 2904. Someone there should be able to answer your question about Mount Carmel Church.

I am familiar with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Chataignier, LA
On December 28, 1901, Fr. Aloysius Bacciochi transferred his residence from Chataignier to Eunice. Fr. Bacciochi brought the early Chat. Ch. records (1869-1901) with him to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Eunice, LA, where they have remained. The Chat. Ch. reopened in 1905.

Rev. Donald J. Hebert published 41 volumes of Southwest Louisiana Records (Church and Civil Records). He abstracted and recorded not only sacramental events from the Catholic Churches of the area but also civil marriages (license) of the marrying couple, regardless of their religious affiliation. Fr. Hebert's SWLRs begin with the year 1750 and end with the year 1909.

What were the names of your ancestors who m. in 1871?

Rosie Morein Wells
Birmingham, AL
