I am looking for more information on an AfricanAmerican male named Dave Davis and his wife Margaret (unk) who were in Clinton, LA. More specifically Ward 8, East Feliciana Parish.
I can find a Dave Davis as far back as 1870 living in Clinton (if this is our Dave Davis), and then in 1880 he appears married to Margaret and has several children. We know the names of most of the children between looking at the 1870 and 1880 census.
Dave was b.~1842-44 probably in LA. and might have d.~1914-1916 in Clinton. Would like to know parents/siblings if possible and where he's buried in Clinton. Possibly wonder if AfAm had marriage records in LA at that time.
His wife Margaret is unknown to us. Again, am looking for parents/siblings, etc. Don't know when she died or where she is buried either.
In 1870, I find Dave Davis by Milly Davis, Levi Davis and Isom Davis who could be siblings since they are close in age. They are also with a family of Dunn's. Later on I find Milly Davis is now Milly Dunn since her age progress the same and it's the same black male Dunn she's with in 1870.
So I wonder if it's possible to try and link all these Davis folks together?
There is a possibility that Dave Davis was a Mulatto, and that one of his parents may have been white. At least that is what my husband says. Dave Davis was my husband's gr gr grandfather.
Hope this is enough information to get a response.
