My GrandFather's Name was: Leon Green(e)Born: Mar 04, 1906
He had an older brother: William Green(e)Born: January 30, 1903
Both of their SS Applications say their Father was: Casper Greene
Their Mother: ELLA BASS
Their birthplace: Lake Providence, East Carroll Parish, LA
According to family oral history: Ella died a few days after giving birth to my GrandFather Leon. Casper or Casper's brother came by but Ella's mother would not release them. The boys left approximately 9 years later when Ella's mother died and migrated up river to Scott, Mississippi. I do not know Ella's mother or her father's name.
My GrandFather had an old photo of his dad. Barely legible enscribed upon it says:
Kasper Greene, Transylvania, Louisiana.
I'm grasping for straws in the dark here, but I am assuming from information on Sandy Schmitz' Web Pages on Lake Providence, East Carroll Parish that their was (is?) a Bass Family Plantation somewhere in the Parish. Can you confirm this and perhaps let me know where it was (is?) and also if their are any other places of burial beside the HWY 65 Lake Providence Cemetery in the Parrish?
