Rachel Winn Fortson born 20 Oct 1797 daughter of William Fortson and Ann Higginbotham married Burrell Ridgeway. Rachel Winn Fortson Ridgeway is buried in Old Hazelwood Cemetery in Desoto Parish as is her daughter, Frances Jane Ridgeway who was the third wife of James M Williams. Old Hazelwood Cemetery is one hundred and fifty nine years old and was a neglected cemetery until recently when a group of people began a restoration project. The cemetery is still in need of people who care.
A book was recently completed about the families buried in Old Hazelwood Cemetery. There is some information on the Fortson included in this book.
