Spairs family

Seeking information on L.G.W. Spiars, who lived in the DeSoto Parish area during the 1850 Census. Here's what little I know about him (according to the 1850 Census record): born 1803 in Mississippi, occupation was Planter, listed two daughters living with him: Sarah A. (my gg-grandmother, born 1835 in Mississippi) and Mary L. (born 1842 in Louisiana). Apparently his wife (unknown to me) died before 1850. Don't know what the L.G.W. initials stand for. If anyone has access to DeSoto Parish history books and can look up this information, I will eternally grateful.
