In July of 2009, there will be a National Odom Assembly held in Hattisburg, Mississippi. NOA is a surname group rather than a family reunion and is open to anyone researching Odom, Oldham, Odum, Oden and variants. The meeting is several days long and involves sightseeing, visiting, genealogy, and a series of parties/meetings.

I've attended six of their annual events - in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Indiana. Others have been held in Florida, Texas, even Utah and people come to the events from all over the U.S. We have a great time.

If you're interested in learning more about your ODOM ancestors, I hope you will join us in Hattisburg. In the meantime, I'm interested in getting acquainted with any ODOMs in Louisiana. I know there are a number of ODOMs in Claiborne Parish descended from Hiram Pittman Odom and would be interested in corresponding with them as well as any descendants of Archibald Odom of Pulaski Co., Georgia.
