I am searching for anyone who might have information on the parents of a William Wiley or (William M.) Bass, born in Louisiana sometime between 1838-1841. He married the widow Elizabeth Dunn Smith in 1866 and they are found in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, in the 1880 Census and 1900 Census there (See listing following) .

In both the 1880 Census and the 1900 Census , William Bassís parents are listed as being born in Mississippi. His childrenís names (See 1880 Census) and the names of his son William Wiley, Jr., (See listing at end) can all be found as common names among the Bass families of Louisiana and Mississippi.

1880 Census for Catahoula Parish, Louisiana:
WILLIAM BASS, 39, b. 1841, in Louisiana, parents born in Mississippi
Elizabeth Bass, 44
William W. Bass, 13 (This is son William Wiley who marries Jane Ratcliff )
Eliza Jane Bass , 10
Ephraim E. (Esau) Bass, 8
Smith Bass, 18 (This is son of Elizabeth by previous Smith husband. He was adopted by William Bass
and took the Bass name)

1900 Census for Catahoula Parish, Louisiana:
WILLIAM BASS, 61 (Translation has William M., but the actual document looks like a W. instead of an M.)
Elizabeth, 64
John F. , 18 (Son John Franklin, born in 1882

William Wiley, Jr., had sons named Alfred King Bass, Carey Thomas Bass, Benjamin Franklin Bass, Grover Richard Bass, and George Maloy Bass.

William Wiley Bass, Sr., is my g-great-grandfather and Willilam Wiley, Jr., is my great-grandfather. I would really like to be able to place them in the right family line. Any suggestions?
