Dear David,

Hello. I don't know for sure that our WILLIAMS connect but, certainly, the timeframe and location of Catahoula Parish, Louisiana allow possibilities.

My maternal 2nd great grandparents were William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1785 in Maryland, and his wife, Elizabeth ?. William WILLIAMS is found in the 1840 Catahoula Parish, Louisiana Census and after that at an anknown precise time they moved to Franklin Parish, Louisiana in or near Liddieville.

William WILLIAMS and Elizabeth ? were the parents of my maternal great grandmother, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1840, who married my great grandfather, Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, (CSA.)

I don't have the names of all of the WILLIAMS children but there was one son named Otho WILLIAMS, (poss. Otho Holland WILLIAMS but don't have that here in front of me.) And I don't know if there is any connection between the (General) Otho Hollan WILLIAMS and his family whom were also from Maryland or not...and someone in that family group did move to Louisiana.

It is possible that Elizabeth ?, wife of William WILLIAMS, might have been part Indian and French, but that is still just speculation on my part.

I am also including, further below, another GENFORUM post and my response to it in search of this information and possibile connections.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Pat,

Hoping that your email address is still same as it has been over 4 years since your post. I am hoping that we have some connections in Franklin Parish, Louisiana.

I noticed the name of Zelma WOOD, born: abt. 1882, in your information, who married # 1: Luther D. RODGERS, # 2: Walter McKINNEY.

Now, there may be no connections here other than Franklin Parish, Louisiana, but hoping there are.

First, before I forget to mention it, and I don't know that it is the same individual, but there is a Luther RODGERS in my family group that lived near Oak Grove, West Carroll Parish, Louisiana. He was married to Oma PRINE. I don't know if was ever married another time or not. Oma was a cousin of my grandmother, Allie Artimissa PARKER, and Oma and Luther were the parents of my mother's best friend, Sybil RODGERS, as well as Sybil was my father's cousin and, also, our Luther RODGERS' brother, A. D. RODGERS, married my father's sister, Lucille MYRICK.

Now, onto the other information, regarding the name of the Walter McKINNEY who married as the 2nd husband of Zelma WOOD. This is a long shot....but here mother, also, from West Carroll Parish, Louisiana, was the daughter of Louis Hector "Hec(k)" SLAUGHTER whose parents were Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, b: 1844 in AL, and wife, Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS, b: abt. 1840 in Catahoula Parish, LA or Franklin Parish, LA in or near Liddieville, where her parents moved after the 1840 Catahoula Parish, LA census. Her parents were William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1785 in Maryland, and his wife, Elizabeth ?.

I have searched for 10 years trying to find the surname of William WILLIAMS' wife, Elizabeth ?, but no luck. Just now, I was searching through the 1840 Catahoula Parish, LA census, once again, and noticing that the there is a man named Elijah McKINSY listed at the property immediately following that of my William WILLIAMS. And, also, in another location in that same census there is another man mentioned by the name of Elijah McKINNEY, leading me to think that they are, probably, of the same family but with the names spelled differently. And, just working off the possibility that this McKINS(E)/McKINNEY family next door to my WILLIAMS family might have been related...therefore, the possibility that this might have been the family group for my Elizabeth ?, wife of William WILLIAMS.

I've eliminated the McKINSEY name in Catahoula and Franklin Parishes, at least it seems so, and then looking now for the McKINNEY name in Franklin Parish, LA on GENFORUM and found your post.

Perhaps, there might be other connections that stand out to you. If you have any other information on the family group of this Walter McKINNEY, I would love to hear from you. Also, is it possible that your Luther D. RODGERS and our Luther RODGERS...whose full name I think is, also, Luther D. RODGERS, are one and the same?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
