I'm searching for information about my GGGGG-grandparents, John Zeigler (or Zeagler) and Sarah Lavica, who I know lived in Catahoula Parish in the 1840's. What I know about their time in Catahoula Parish so far: 1. John is listed in the 1840 US census for Catahoula Parish as a head of household, consisting of three males and three females. He and Sarah had 10 children, all of whom were born in Orangeburg District SC or Franklin Co MS where they lived before moving to Catahoula Parish. It's unknown how many of these children moved to Catahoula Parish at some point in their lives. These children were: a. Joseph Zeigler m. Lucinda Stokes b. Simpson Zeigler m. Sarena Unknown c. Robert Zeigler m. Nancy Stokes d. Catherine Zeigler m. Benjamin Cassells e. Phillip Zeigler m. Catherine Unknown f. Nancy Zeigler m. John Valentine (my GGGG-grandparents) g. Lavica Zeigler m. Henry Sturdivant h. Caroline Zeigler m. Levi L. Valentine i. Adeline Zeigler m. Wyatt Whitehead j. Mary Ann Zeigler m. William Fife Note that the surname Zeigler was spelled as Zeagler by a number of family members. 2. John died in February 1849 in Catahoula Parish. His burial location is unknown. Probate was filed on March 26, 1849 in Catahoula Parish. 3. I don't know when and where Sarah died and was buried. She would have been about 60 years old at the time of the 1840 census. I've not found her listed in the 1850 census for Catahoula Parish, but she was listed as one of the two administrators of John's estate in the probate record referenced above. Any leads or information about John and Sarah would be appreciated. John Reid P.O. Box 7164 Libertyville IL 60048 Notify Administrator about this message?
