I am trying to find the parents of my Great Great Grandmother Samantha Ann Green. She was born at Sicily Island in 1831. She married John D. Thomason 9/18/1851. John was killed in the Civil War. She then married William Franklin Choat 6/29/1864 in Franklin Parish, where she died in 1911. The following from the Richland Parish Newspaper in 1911 is the only thing I have been able to find on her.
Mrs. W. F. Choat -- On last Saturday Mrs. Choat of the fifth ward, breathed her last, and the following day, was laid to rest in the family burying ground. Mrs. Choat had reach a ripe old age, being nearly 90 years old when death summoned her to her reward. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother, and good neighbor. Several children W. T., I. L. Choat, Mrs. Anna Parham and J. S. Thomason, beside a large number of grandchildren and other relatives survive her. We deeply sympathize with her aged husband and the mourning loved ones left behind, and we can only point them to our Heavenly Father for comfort and consolation, for he knows all our sorrows and is aquainted with all our infirmities. May He be very near to them in this dark hour.
