I need to make several corrections to references in my earlier message:
1. The US census record I cited is the 1860 census, not the 1850 census.
2. Levenia Pierce was the wife of Levi Pierce, not George Pierce. In the 1860 census record, a Claiborne Pierce and his wife, Celia, and his brother, George W. Pierce, lived next door to the household of Levi and Levenia Pierce in Caldwell Parish. This George W. Pierce later was appointed as the administrator of Richard Bannister's estate and legal guardian of Isabelle and Samuel Bannister, a position that led to litigation and much acrimony between George W. Pierce and Isabelle. In his petition to the court to be appointed to these positions, George W. Pierce indicated that he was a cousin to Isabelle and Samuel Bannister.
