Bannister/Pierce Family Connection ?

Marilyn, I don't have anyone by these names in my genealogy records.

My great-great-grandmother, Isabelle Courtney Bannister and her brother, Samuel Houston Bannister, were taken in as children by a Levi Pierce and his family following the death of Isabelle's and George's parents, Richard and Julia Olds Bannister; they are found living in the household of Levi and Levenia Pierce in the 1850 US federal census of Caldwell Parish LA (dwelling #350, family #371). On the basis that sibling family members often have been known to take in and raise the orphaned children of their deceased brother or sister, I suspect that there may be a family connection between Isabelle/George Bannister and the wife of George Pierce, Levenia, but so far I haven't found any records showing Levenia's maiden name or other evidence to support this hunch.

If I come across information regarding your Martha Pierce, I'll let you know. If you have any information about her parents, I'd be grateful to learn about that, as I continue to try to find if there is a Pierce/Bannister family connection.

Regards, John Reid
