John Norwood 64 Found Dead In His Rocking Chair
John Norwood 64 seated in his rocking chair in his home was found dead around 5:30 this morning, he having died apparently about 45 minutes prior to this time with a heart attack.
Mr. Norwood born in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana came to Orange County in his early boyhood days and has since that time lived in and near Orange. He was for a number of years a superintendent of the city street division and for the past several months had been employed as a crew foreman under County Commissioner Sid Callivet of Precinct 1 in charge of highway work.
He arose shortly after 4 am this morning and dressed and had gone into another room where he made a fire and was seated in a rocking chair then found dead by his wife.
Survivors are his wife Mrs. Mollie Norwood, a son Ivy Norwood and a daughter Mrs. Dean Myers, both of Port Arthur, three grandchildren and two stepsons, Fred and Jesse Norwood both of Orange, four stepdaughters Mrs. Carrie Gildwell of Port Arthur, Mrs. Gladys Peveto and Mrs. Claud Fuller both of Orange and Mrs. Virgie Mae Peet of Mauriceville, two brothers Rye Norwood of Orange, Jim Norwood of Port Arthur, three sisters, Mrs.W.R. McCall of Grand Chenier, Louisiana, Mrs. Lonnie Reese, and Mrs. Pearl Yager of Port Arthur.
Looking for anyone related or who might have more information.
It said that he was born in Calcasieu Parish, LA.
