Rice Fields of Mira, LA (1914)

A family story is that my grandfather, Jewel Adcock, died while working in the "rice fields in Mira, Louisiana" in 1914. I've seen pictures of him and 3 other men who supposedly worked with him, and they are all nice-looking young men; dressed in some kind of snappy "uniform." Does anyone know any history of Mira, LA that might include information on this "company" or what they might have been doing if not in the rice fields?
