According to the information I have, Elisha Attaway first came to Louisiana in 1815, from Georgia. He was a veteran of the war of 1812. He presumably fought in the battle of New Orleans in 1815. In 1816 at the age of 23, he married 14 year-old Rebecca Ford in Louisiana. He and Rebecca went back to Georgia and then migrated to Alabama. They then migrated back to Louisiana and settled in Caddo Parish. Elisha was the brother to my direct line, Ezekiel Attaway. It appears they had at least 8 children. The 1850 census shows the 57 year old Elisha, 47 year old Rebecca, Joseph, 19, Isaiah 11, Rebecca 10, Elisha 8 and Ezekiel & Eusebia 6 year old twins. More information ?
