Some John Hyde Scott information is in book "History of Stewart Co., Ga. Vol. II" by _____________________ and A. H. Clark, page 738 & 739 in article of "The David Cotter Family". John Hyde Scott's wife was Sarah Jane Cotter and they were married in Stewart Co., Ga. Feb 18, 1846. Book says he is son of Abraham and Mary Scott. Abraham and Mary Scott are in the home of Joseph Scott in Stewart Co., Ga. in 1850. Nearby is John Hyde Scott household. Father of Abraham Scott is Joseph Scott who died in Jackson Co., Ga Dec 1817. Abraham and his son Joseph were mentioned in the will of Joseph Scott in Jackson Co., Ga. This is before John Hyde Scott was born.

There is another Joseph Scott who died Dec 1817 (same month and year as your Joseph Scott) in Morgan Co., Ga. who I descend from. Much effort needs to be taken to not mix the two lines. My father, Robert Seaborn Scott, who died in 1956 had told me we were related to John Hyde Scott but he did not know how. I would guess Dad had met John Hyde Scott when Dad was a child in East Texas. The lines probably connect beyond the two Joseph Scotts.

Your Joseph Scott who died in Jackson Co., Ga in 1817 had been in Lincoln Co., N.C. before going to Ga.

Do you have "Georgia Genealogical Magazine" in a library near you? If so I can send some volume numbers for you to get bits here and there on your
Scott line.
