I am trying to locate the parents/family of my gggrandfather, Charles Claiborne Reid b. 1830 LA, possibly Rapides Parish per info passed down in the family. Supposedly his parents died about mid 1840's leaving him and two sisters. I have seen where Stephen Reid purchased land in both Rapides and Avoyelles Parishes. Would anyone have any info on this REID/REED/READ? There were also younger William and John Reed families listed on the 1840 census and an older John Reede on the 1830. My Claiborne went to Polk Co., TX about 1847/1848 with a group mostly from the Rapides area. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
