I can connect my family to Mary (Polly) Adair married to David Bell through my ggrandmother's line:
Alice Reynolds daughter of John F. Reynolds & Palina Stringer...
Palina daughter of John Stringer & (Mary)"Elizabeth" Bell
Elizabeth daughter of John S. Bell & Ruth A Simpson
John S. Bell son of David Bell & Mary (Polly) Adair.
But, I am at a Dead end with Alice Reynolds husband (my ggrandfather)...John Adair.
Who were his parents? he was born abt 1876 and died 1954 in Wayne Co.
he appears in census images:
1920 U.S. Census • Kentucky • Wayne • Mullentown • ED# 265 sheet 10B ( image 20 ancestry)
1910 U.S. Census I Kentucky I Wayne I Mullentown I ED# 226 sheet 14A ( image ancestry)
1900 U.S. Census I Kentucky I Wayne I Mullentown I ED# 127 sheet 15B ( image 30 ancestry)
He married Celia Abbott, daughter of , Joseph Abbott & Rutha Upchurch.
his children were:
Laura E. Adair born 1898 (possibly not John's child, family story says John found out celia was pregnant by someone else (possibly a Mr. Page), and John married her and gave the child her name...the oldest sons descendants (my family) always thought that Jake was that child, but the 1900 census show's the first child was a girl named Laura)
Jake (or Jacob) Adair born 1899
Homer b. abt 1901
Mary Ella b. abt 1904
Rutha b. 1906
Marion Haywood b. 1908
Lizzie b. 1910
Bennie b. 1912
Willie b. 1914
Rubin b. 1915
Sterline b. 1918
Walter b. 1920
Jake and wife Alice Reynolds (mentioned above) both died in Indianapolis, Indiana though both were buried in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery...Bethesda was where at least one of thier son's was born (my grandfather Joe T. Adair)
with that said, all of thier children (Jake & Alice's) were born in Wayne Co. Ky other than one, he was born in IL. we know Alice had relitives in IL, and assume she was visiting them when he was born.
please contact me if any of this makes since
Madison Co. IN
