I sincerely hope that your email is still current. I just found out that my Charles Young was in Floyd Co. KY and purchased land there (73 acres) on Big Mud Creek in 1827. When he sold the land in 1833 the land record describes him as being "of Putnam Co. IN". This is how I know that it is "MY" Charles. Further, it names his wife in the land record (Mary). There were several Charles Youngs in this area in that era. Our Charles was in Owen Co. IN on census in 1830. The Charles Youngs who are on census in Wayne and Floyd Co. KY remain on census there in 1830 and 1840 when we know that our Charles was in Putnam Co. IN. Yet, according to land documents the Charles who purchased the land in Floyd Co. in 1827 almost certainly has to be ours.
Since he purchased the land in 1827 (after the 1820 census and before the 1830 census), he wouldn't necessarily have had to have been on census records. Also, when he sold the land in 1833, he was already a resident of Putnam Co. IN. I am wondering if you have any knowledge of this particular Charles Young. I have seen your postings and you seem to be very knowledgeable about the Young family of this area.
My Charles Young was born in Virginia (accoding to census records). He had at least 14 children (maybe more). We have identified most if not all of them. My own line descends through his son, Israel. The oldest "known" son, John, was also born in VA in 1817. Next is my own line, Israel, who was born in VA in 1822. The next child, Nancy, was born in KY in about 1824. So, this would coincide with the time frame in which he purchased the land on Big Mud Creek.
I am interested in knowing if you or any of your contacts might have any knowledge of my Charles Young who is described above?
Thanks in advance,
