Wayne: On November 13, 1812 on Friday the following members of the Red River Primitive Baptist Church petitioned the church to allow them to form an "Arm" of the Red River Church to be called Drakes Pond Church: They were David Penny, Phillip Covington, Robert Jamison, William Jones, Brittin Jones, Jeffery Sanders, James Reasons and John Gresham. The females were Kiziah Rhodes, Kiziah Penny, Nancy Jamison. Selah Covington, Sussanah Darnall, Betsy Edgar, Fereby Sanders, Jean More, Elizah Wilcox, Temperance Calhoon, Judy Gresham, Libby Carter and Charlotte Reasons. Permission was granted. Source Minutes of Red River Baptist Church page 94. On November 6, 1813 The Drakes Pond Congregation petitioned to be constituted. The members at that time were pretty well the same as those named above with the addition of Nicholas Darnall, David Smith, Gabriel Roach, Peggy Holland, Nancy Adams, Pricilla Faulkner, Nancy Kerlite and Lysha Hightower. Thirty one members in all. Permission granted. I know of no other record of membership of Drakes Pond Church. It was on the state line. Some say one mile east of Guthrie others argue it was near Graysville (now Tiny Town). In 1825 it broke with the Red River4 Association and Joined the Bethel Association. In the minutes of Bethel Association it names the delegates to their annual meetings. About 1838 Drakes Pond ceased to be mentioned in Bethel association minutes. I have never heard of it mentioned in official minutes after that day. In 1813 when it was constituted the members were about equally divided between Christian County, Kentucky (Todd County was not formed until 1820 where most of the Kentucky members lived), Robertson and Montgomery Counties in Tennessee.
