To Whom It May Concern:

As you are well aware, we are well into summer - the time for clean up and for upkeep of the Masters Cemetery. Up until now, we and our extended family have done the upkeep ourselves and out of our pockets. But, with the high cost of fuel and equipment, plus the shear size of the cemetery, it has gotten to be too much. It costs several hundred dollars per year for the upkeep; and we are starting with zero balance. So therefore we are asking those that have relatives buried there if you would be so kind as to help us in our efforts to keep the cemetery mowed and maintained.

Also, to allow for cemetery maintenance and mowing, flowers placed on the ground will be removed two weeks after Memorial Day, or after placement. Flowers placed on hooks, monuments, etc will remain until they become faded and / or unsightly.

We hope these guidelines do not offend anyone but mowing and maintaining the cemetery is a major project, especially considering the work is performed on a volunteer basis.

We also ask that, when visiting the cemetery, that you please do not throw old flowers or trash in the wooded areas around the cemetery for others to pick up. Instead pack old flowers and trash out with you.

We are also currently trying to locate and identify all graves, including the unmarked ones. If anyone knows the location of any unmarked graves, please contact us with the name and location of the grave. We are planning to have a professional mapping of the cemetery done to locate unmarked graves, but the more we can identify and locate beforehand, the easier that job will be. Locating them by professional mapping does not give us the person’s identity, so please share as much information about the grave as you possibly can.

Let’s join hands in keeping the Masters Cemetery as beautiful and as maintained as possible. This is the last thing we can do for our loved ones who have gone on before us.

If you have questions, concerns, or comments, or to make a contribution to the upkeep of the cemetery, please feel free to contact Marlene Tackett at marlenetackett@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Marlene Tackett
