Most of the Civil War era birth/death records are non-existent for a couple reasons...the county either didn't keep the records (wasn't required by the state until 1911), or they were destroyed during the war. Anna died prior to the Civil War, so her death record is available, but William's isn't. From "Pike Co KY Deaths 1849-1909", by Hobbs & Picklesimer: "Anna Ramy, 72 years old, Married, Died: 18 November 1856, Birth Place: South Carolina, Parents: Elizabeth Sanders(?), Cause: Old Age."
