1814 marriage witnesses-How many? How old?
Posted by: Sherri Abromavage (ID *****8404) Date: August 26, 2003 at 17:01:25

According to various sources:
John Hopkins married Zilphia Lett Pendleton co KY 1814
The application was dated 24 Oct 1814 and said that Daniel Lett gave his consent (relationship not stated).
1 Nov 1814 minster's return gives witnesses as Isham Lett, Patsy Lett, Balaam Lett, and Daniel Lett sr.
These were the names of her siblings, but some of them may have been as young as 16. I know that it is not common to have that many witnesses, and wonder if they may have just humored the younger siblings?

I could also use the address to send for copies of these records.
Thanks,
Sherri
