Hi,
I'm looking for anyone with information on the family of Beverly JONES, my great-great-grandfather, listed in Scott Co., KY in 1850 and Owen County, KY in 1860-1880. I think the difference in counties between 1850 and 1860 was merely due to the "indeterminate" boundary between Scott and Owen Counties. Beverly was the father of:
John Thomas JONES (possibly married Mary Jane Fitzgerald)
William A. "
Ann Eliza "
Richard D. " (my great-grandfather, born 1856, married Amanda WHITE ca. 1885, daughter of John D. WHITE)
Mary E. "
Sarah J. "
Martha F. "
Beverly B. "
Frances "
Beverly was born ca. 1822 and married Margaret Eliza Nunley (Nunneley). All census listings indicate they lived in the Caney/New Columbus area of Owen County. Probable close relatives include Toliver JONES (b. ca. 1802) and Seralda Jones (b. ca. 1824), widow of Silas JONES (ca. 1823-1857). An undated map (probably ~1880) places all of them within 3 miles or less south of New Columbus, and all were farmers.
I've had good luck tracing downward from Beverly, but I'm particularly interested in any information concerning his parents, both of whom were born in Virgina. I'd be especially interested in hearing from anyone who might have inherited the family Bible of Beverly JONES.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
