States: Kentucky: Nelson
Your post on the Confederates from Nelson County was extremely enlightening and thank you for documenting that. I am researching Samuel Beale (Beall) from Bardstown that married Elizabeth Ann DuVal in October 2, 1833. I read that there was a Samuel Beall captured by the Union Army and certified as imprisoned in Western Virginia in 1862. What happened to Samuel is not recorded. He was not in the military, though, as he is recorded as a "civilian" and a "rebel aider" but no mention of his home town, date of birth, or if he survived capture. The Confederate Monument in Bardstown lists several who served but he is not on the list, although there were 17 interred who are not named. Samuel Beale, I believe, was the son or stepson of Norborne Booth Beale of Spring Station, KY, near Louisville who served in the Kentucky Legislature in 1811, 1812, 1813.
