Hi - I have some interest in the Caho, Cahoe etc. family b/c I am trying to track down what I believe to be a related line (Purdy). Your Hilary might be the son of Joseph Caho who married in Nelson County. This is a post of mine on the Washington County, Rootsweb board from a while back:
I am trying to put together my Purdy line and I think that Elizabeth Purdy (Perdy, Pardy etc.) who supposedly married an Andrew Caho (Cahoe, Kehoe etc.) might be the sister of my William Purdy.
Their children I believe could be:
1) Henry Caho b. ~1805, d. ~1860 in Perry Co., MO
married a) Elizabeth Winfield 11/4/1823 Nelson Co.
b) Maria Roberts 7/14/1830 Nelson Co.
2) Joseph Caho d. bef. 1850 m.Mary Cissell 4/12/1823 Nelson Co.
3) Elizabeth Caho d. bef 1850 m. William McPherson 2/24/1816 Washington Co.
4) Sister Theresa Caho b. ~1797
There is an Eliza Cahoe in the 1820 Washington Co. Census with children. I believe this is Elizabeth Purdy Caho.
I would love to find a marriage record for Andrew Caho and Elizabeth Purdy in the hope I can narrow down where the Purdy family might have come from or the name of her father.
If anyone has any other info. about this family please let me know.
I noticed that your Hilary was living next to a Cissell family in the 1870 Marion Co. Census also that your Hilary married a McPherson (as did an Elizabeth Caho above). I think your Hilary is probably in this family not sure exactly where he fits but could very well be a son of Joseph as Henry left Nelson County early on (1830s?) for Perry Co., MO.
Let me know what you think-
