I found something that is interesting on Brown and the source of it is: Kentucky Catholic Pioneers vol 1" by Gerald Thompson..
George Brown born ca 1808 to Raphael Brown and Elizabeth Raley..bpatised at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Calvary Washington Co.(now Marion Co), Ky by Father Charles Nerinckx. Sponsor Henry Raley and Elizabeth abell. See 1850 census of Marion co #153 , district 1. George is listed as 40 years old born Farmer married Julia A. born ca 1813 in Ky. father of David ca 1840, Elizabeth ca 1845 and Julia Ann ca 1850.

Then Lucretia Brown born ca 1806 to George Brown. Lucretia is listed in 1850 census as 44 year old native. Memeber of Holy Name of Mary parish in 1831 married James T. Clements born ca 1803 in Ky. bond 8 Aug., 1829 Washington Co Washington Surety James Raley born 11 page 170. m/o Wm David ca 1831, Martha J. ca 1834, Elizabeth ca 1836, James P. ca 1840 and Isabella ca 1844. There was not any last name given to Julia A.

Raphael Brwonj in i808 married Elizabeth raley father of George bron 1808.

I thought this interesting and thought I should relay this information to you. I know that there were several George Browns in that surname.

Now I also found this tid bit of information in Centenary of Catholicity by Hon. b?en J. Webb:
Jeremiah Brown was part of the 1800 group who settled in Pottinger Creek area of Nelson Co., Ky and he was maternal grandfather of the Late Rev. John Hutchins. Belonged to Holy Cross Church.

In Marylanders to Ky 1775-1825 by Henry C. Peden Jr; Jeremiah Brown early settlers to Pottinger Creek area of Nelson co and part of Marylland Catholic League of St Mary's Co., Maryland arrive in Ky 1785. (KC 28;30)

Same sorce--George Brown of Maryland early settler of Hardin Creek area (Washington Co, ) in 1786. Note Hardin Creek settlement is located 10 miles east of Pottinger Creek

Either of these two men could be father of George Brown.

Hope this helps some....I am still searching thru some of the papers and books I have .....Would appreciate your comments on what I have just provided you.
